Becoming an AFZ is part of a journey…

Ending complicity with Israel’s system of oppression is a journey that cannot be completed from a day to another, especially in an hyper-capitalistic world.

A journey that starts from a place of empathy, where suffering is shared and understood, and that continues with material actions in both cutting ties of complicity and showing solidarity to the Palestinian people, in Palestine and around the world. Becoming an AFZ is only a step in a broader path, where concrete solidarity is socialised and, therefore, expanded.

To all the the new AFZs we ask to arrive to this step with trust, commitment, and respect for the community that is emerging in the Netherlands.

To all the new AFZs we ask to meet the campaign requirements (see below), preferably at the moment of signing the campaign form, but not mandatorily. We trust that any new AFZ that will join will do its best efforts in this journey of progressive compliance.

BECOME AN AFZ

Campaign Requirements

To the Commercial AFZs, we ask to…

Not sell/engage with/promote: any product/service associated to companies already identified by the BDS movement as complicit in violations of Palestinian rights; non-Palestinian products whose primary production is in the Occupied Palestinian territories (illegal settlements); products/services marketed by brands that profit from settlement operations; products/services associated to brands that contribute or benefit from Israel’s apartheid and occupation regime.

To the Academic/Cultural/Sport AFZs, we ask to…

- Refrain from collaborating with Israeli cultural/academic/sport institutions;

- Boycott Israeli academic/cultural/sport events;

- Terminate agreements with Israeli institutions/organisations sponsored or otherwise supported by the Israeli state and to not initiate new ones;

- Steer away of projects or events that aim to normalise relations with Israeli institutions/organisations.

To the Social AFZs, we ask to…

Fulfil a dual responsibility: to abide by the requirements for commercial/cultural AFZs (see above) and to make sure they are followed by any organisation using their spaces. This entails making compliance a binding condition of the rental or use agreement, and actively monitoring and upholding these standards throughout the third party's tenure.

To the Union AFZs, we ask to…

Divest from complicit companies and exclude them from any procurement contracts both for products and services.

To the Political AFZs, we ask to…

Terminate any tender, collaboration, supply, or support from and to companies and/or organisations that directly or indirectly support and/or normalise the Israeli apartheid regime and Israeli occupation of Palestinian land, especially following the ICJ ruling of 19th July 2024, which established the international obligation to boycott, divest, and sanction against Israel’s occupation agents. Political entities, including representative groups, are expected to fully embrace our BDS guidelines and anti-normalisation principles.
